Rose Glazed Strawberry Botanical Carved 9" Tray, Gold Rim

The Botanical series features fruiting branches and stems, mostly in the citrus family. Having referenced vintage botanical water colors for these, I decided to include the floral phase as well, although in nature this usually does not happen.

Tray is made by draping a slab of porcelain over a mold and compressing and cutting it to shape. It is hand carved, such that no two are the same. This piece is glazed with a dark glaze inlay to bring forth the design, and then it is accented with light watercolor glazing and finished with a coat of rose glaze. The rim is glazed in a true 'antique' gold.

The inside is carved with a strawberry motif. 

The nine inch tray is the right size to hold keys and other catchall items on the counter. It is also food safe so versatile in this way as well.
