These tiny inquisitive birds only weigh about three and a half ounces. They are some of the most numerous owls in North America, but tend to be very reclusive. Here they are perched on a pine with a colorful pop of fungi nearby. The handle of the mug features a blend of darker stoneware clays, for a bark like effect.
This piece was created from a wheel thrown body with added sculptural elements. Color is layered throughout the making process at every stage in order to achieve a lively depth in the surface.
Gold luster accented.
Blushed pine green on the inside.
