A unique bowl that is hand built using an imprinted slab of clay to capture the texture of spring cabbage leaves, and formed into a bowl shape with the help of a rounded mold. The rim and pedestal is added using a coiling technique and the rim is notched for a cord look.
These pieces were constructed using techniques I've learned over the years, and it was refreshing to make without the use of the electric wheel.
The bowl is brushed with a green wash followed by a matte white glaze dip resulting in a mottled glaze that veers glossy where thicker in recessed areas and pastel sea green where thinner.
Looks lovely as a fruit bowl centerpiece, or for use with flowers (with addition of a flower frog).
