When I started carving marbled clay, I couldn't ignore how much the effect reminded me of a sea shell- another happy surprise is how pleasant the raw unglazed grooved surface feels in the hand.
These pieces are thrown on a potters wheel with each having a small hand carved sea shell added as a momento to sand between the toes and eyes on the rolling waves. They are carved and finished with a touch of gold.
