Blue herons are a special sight- I love watching them stalk, moving one leg, their body seemingly still, then the other leg as they stalk through the shallows, before plunging for a fish, so quickly you thought you missed it. I've observed these here in the midwest, but also in my childhood in Ithaca NY, with it's iconic weeping willows gracing the edge of Cayuga Lake, and this is where I have imagined them for this mug.
This piece was created from a wheel thrown body, finished with hand painting, and carved accents. Color is layered throughout the making process at every stage in order to achieve a lively depth in the surface.
Gold luster accented.
Blushed green on the inside.
Hand wash only. Not suitable for microwave or dishwasher.
Measure about 4.25” high by 4.47” wide with handle.
