When I look at this collection, the word evergreen comes to mind. A word that notates bounty, familiarity, stability. Evergreen spruces and pines are twisted into wreaths during the short months, a reminder of life dormant, yet determined.
I'd like to think of these pots as festive, but also pieces which can be brought out at any time the occasion calls for a notable serving dish or pot of tea to be enjoyed among friends. And that magic evergreen color is present on quite a few of these pieces. I was especially drawn to it's small crystallization tendencies, it's glossy areas where brushed on thicker or in carved areas, fading to a pale matte pastel hue in other places.
These pots will be available tomorrow, Friday Nov 1 at noon CT. A reminder email will be sent to news letter subscribers when they are ready for you!
Without further ado- here is the preview from my last cycle of making:
Teapot Sets
These pots were thrown from a warm brown clay and are finished with hand dyed reed handles I've formed to the pot.
They feature a lid with a deeper flange which holds the lid in place while pouring at an angle, and the inside has a built in strainer. Insides are glazed gloss white.
In the glazing I've started to use a wax resist method where by wax is painted over lighter areas with darker glazes being applied to unmasked areas, allowing brush strokes to appear more free flowing. I am enjoying the effects.
The handle for each teapot was dyed using different botanicals I collected throughout the year: Black walnut (rich earthy brown), Calendula for a barely there warm tint, Avocado pits for a dusty pink, and Hopi sunflower seeds from heads that grew in the garden this year, yield a pale purple color.
Each teapot pours exceptionally well with no drips upon ending a pour. Two teacups are included with each teapot. Each is painted as a one of a kind.

Single Tea Cups
Three 7oz minis will be available- tea cup, whiskey cup, children's juice - these were thrown exceptionally thin from a buff stoneware clay, and painted a peachy pink and lively green using the wax resist method.

Olive Oil Cruets
These have been a popular piece since introduced a year ago- and here is the most recent iteration, in new colors and also a 'thumb print' indentation on the bottle to ease in handling the piece during daily use. The indentation feels like a lean into more folksy pottery, more human, ergonomic and made to be handled! These are the last marbled cruets I will have available this season.

Platters
I took a chance on a couple of these platters and tinted them a turquoise wash... then wasn't quite happy with them. Instead of letting them linger on a shelf, ignored, I decided to give them a bit more time. I brushed on some cobalt and lavender glaze in a fluid way to accentuate the river like topography flow and sent them through the kiln again for a re-fire. I'm so glad I gave them a little more love - they feel playful and the cool tones really make items they served pop. There will be one large 15.5" long patter and two 14.25" ovals available.
