Mother's Day Gift Ideas, from the Shop and Beyond

Mother's Day brunch is great, but something to show a daily dose of appreciation can be extra special. Here are some things I have enjoyed or admired recently, paired with the new segments of my shop (I organized my wares into shop by function, findable from the shop tab at the top site menu. I think it feels easier to navigate.):

Drink: Wares for Coffee, Tea and More

Ever since finding out that even paper tea bags release a lot of micro plastics - I have switched to a metal strainer. The best teas tend to be loose leaf- so it's a win win. Rare tea cellars is a recent re-discovery (we used to sell it at one of the restaurants I worked at years ago and I'm so glad I rediscovered it).

Rare Tea Cellars

This tea and specialty item store is truly a Chicago gem and boasts of being a 'chefs secret'. Honestly I see why. Although Chicago based, you may only order online, but I hope that doesn't stop you. They have delightfully surprising flavor profiles, and the tea quality is superb.

I have tried quite a few, and stand outs to me include the Litchi Rose Noir (Black Tea), Canadian Ice Wine Black Tea and the Banana Chia  made with freeze dried banana. It is a surprising pairing but it is warm and rounded, and quite addictive.

They also have a selection of herbal non-caff teas- I have enjoyed the Majorlica Melon which uses hibiscus flower as a base.

Find Planters in Areas of Interest: Vases and Other Decor

I'm a sucker for piece that offers functionality and beautiful design. Watering cans are often such objects and I would be want to start collecting them... If I could afford another hobby. The brass watering can pictured is from Sprout Home, a Chicago based plant and floral company, available for purchase here.

For those who love to entertain and cook- serving platters offer a beautiful and enticing backdrop- and conversational piece. Find these pieces here- At the Hearth: Kitchen and Serving.

The book Gâteaux is a recent discovery- It is as much a coffee table book as a cook book- the photographs show case true works of edible art. The directions are very clear, and I think if one enjoys cooking and baking, a fun challenge. Note that a scale is needed for the recipes as ingredients are listed in grams.

From this mom of two- thank you for browsing, I'd be honored if my wares end gifted the mothers in your life! -Emilie
